Homework
All children will bring home a reading book with a record book, in which you are invited to write. Teachers will write in them too. The idea is to share and enjoy books with your child. We want them to love books and reading, but please read the leaflet which tells you more about sharing books with children. Hearing your child read regularly makes a tremendous difference.
Our homework policy advises that younger children should spend at least 10 minutes reading at home every day. This should extend to 30 minutes with older children who will also be asked to do spelling work, tables practice or any literacy, numeracy or topic based tasks. It may be enough just to help by organising a place or time for them but most children will need encouragement. All children will come home with the need to find out. You might be able to extend their interest by taking them on a visit, helping them to use the library or by sending useful items into school for us to borrow.
